Library Tutorial

Researching is hard to do and this tutorial has made me realize that I have many resources at my university that I can use anytime I please. Before this tutorial, I had no idea that the library was this interesting. I've always been good at finding information online for research papers or for anything at that matter. I never realized that the library is one of the best places to find information.
There were many points that I liked about the tutorial. The points on plagiarism and how important it is to cite things correctly in certain formats. The library does that for you. I learned where the databases are and how useful they really can be.
Overall, the library tutorial was extremely helpful especially for me as an incoming freshman. I am confident that I will use the library's resources for all the years that I am here at FGCU.

Attention Grabber Advertisements

Advertisements are meant to grab your attention, if they're made right. In order for an Ad to grab my attention, it has to stand out. It has to be out of the ordinary. There should be good music in it. Not annoying music because I'll just change the channel if I don't like the tune. The Ad has to have meaning and leave you wanting more.

I remember seeing a commercial on television when I was younger, it was one of the Pepsi commercials that were always very entertaining. It was one of my favorites because Brittney Spears, Beyonce, and Pink were in it. It was so memorable because they were all singing one of my favorite songs. “We Will Rock You” by Queen was the song they sang. It took place in what it seemed like the colosseum. They were all dressed up like gladiators and they each had a different weapon. They were using the weapons to make the beat of the Queen song. Then Brittney Spears, Beyonce, and Pink came out of their cages and onto the colosseum to fight each other. They were forced by Enrique Iglesias who is supposed to be the king. The king is watching expecting a fight between them and the animals but instead the three girls came out to rally the crowd with song. The king was outraged because they were not fighting each other. There was a big cooler filled with Pepsi colas and ice by the king. Since the crowd was stomping their feet and clapping their hands, the cooler filled with Pepsi fell onto the floor and Brittney Spears, Beyonce, and Pink got to drink the Pepsi colas. The king fell from his thrown into the middle of the colosseum where they showed a lion walking towards him. Then the commercial ends with Brittney Spears, Beyonce, and Pink throwing Pepsi colas to everyone in the audience. I thought that this was one of the most entertaining commercials I have ever seen.

Here is the link if you want to see a good commercial. ENJOY!

A day at the Zoo

I went back home to Miami for the long weekend. It was nice seeing everyone that I had not seen in a while. I visited my family and friends all weekend but on Sunday I went to the Zoo. I went with my best friend, Devaney and my boyfriend, Alex to celebrate July 4th. The zoo was only five dollars and that is really cheap compared to the original price. There was a special because it was July fourth. Since the price was so low, everyone wanted to go to the zoo that day so it was extremely crowded. I expected the day to be sunny and hot but instead it was overcast and raining. We got soaked from head to toe. Even though it was raining, it was still nice to see all of the animals that were there. I went into the new section of the zoo called "The Amazon" and it had a lot of cool looking birds and monkeys. There was this one monkey that howled so loud that it hurt your ears to listen. The monkey that we called the howler was picking bugs out of this other beautiful monkey with reddish brown hair. It was so cute to see because they were so very tiny. They looked like babies but that was their normal adult size.

While I was watching the two monkeys, I looked over to my left and I saw a huge banana spider making its web in the tree that was right outside of the Monkey's cage. It had to be at least half of the size of my hand. It had yellow and black long legs and there was some red in the body itself with black beady eyes. It was beautiful and terrifying at the same time. I didn't have binoculars but I was able to get really close to the spider's web because it was on a tree that was outside of a cage. I wasn't sure if that spider species can jump so I kept my distance. I watched carefully as the spider spun its web. It was almost finished spinning the web when I noticed that there was already a fly stuck unfortunately in the web waiting for its doom from the eight legged monster. I never really noticed how creepy a spider looks when it crawls. I can't imagine how scared the fly must have been to see the spider up close. It probably seemed like the spider was a giant if we were looking through the fly's eyes. It was so interesting to take the time and actually watch something so small and insignificant in my everyday life.

About Me

Hey! My name is Emily and I’m from super hot all the time Miami, Florida. I’ve lived in Miami all my life. My parents have been divorced since I was five years old. I have a brother named Alex and a half sister named Amie. I have a boyfriend named Alex back home and I miss him very much. It’s kind of weird having a brother and a boyfriend named Alex. I’m still not used to it. I like to play basketball and softball. I love all kinds of music. Music has always calmed me down if I ever had a problem or if I was ever stressed. I’ve been in Choir since the second grade. I was in my high school’s top choir group that you had to try out for. The group was called Killian Singers and we’re on Youtube if anyone wants to look us up, we're under ‘Killian Chorus’. My favorite football team has always been the University of Miami since I was a little girl. I guess because my parents are huge U.M. fans that I just grew up loving that team. I don’t feel like I’m “betraying” my University by being a fan of another schools football team because FGCU doesn’t have a football team yet. Although, I heard we might have one very soon so I’m looking forward to that!
I’m majoring in secondary social science education because one day I want to become a high school history teacher. That might sound kind of boring to most but history has always been my favorite subject. In a way, history warns us from others mistakes that have happened in the past and it is our job not to repeat their mistakes in the future by learning our history. I guess that pretty much sums it up. I would love to get to know everyone in class so feel free to ask me anything.
